McCARTHY'S HORNPIPE (Crannciuil Mic Cartaig). AKA and see "Blanchard's Hornpipe (1)," "Broken Hornpipe (The)," "Chester Castle (2)," "Roxborough Castle." Irish, Hornpipe (cut or whole time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The hornpipe would appear to have British origins. "McCarthy's Hornpipe" was entered into the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection (vol. 3, p. 82) of Canon James Goodman (County Cork), set in the key of G major.
