LET US TAKE THE ROAD. AKA and see "March in Rinaldo," "Marlborough March." English, Air and March (2/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune is George Frideric Handel's "March in Rinaldo" from the 1711 opera Rinaldo. It is the vehicle for the song "Let Us Take the Road" in John Gay's Beggar's Opera (1729, Act 2 No. 4, Air 20), and also appears in Webb's ballad opera Court and Country, or the Changelings (London, 1743). The lyric begins:

George Frideric Handel

Let us take the Road.
Hark! I hear the Sound of Coaches!
The Hour of Attack approaches,
To your Arms, brave Boys, and load.
