SCARS AND TATTOOS. Canadian, Reel (cut time). Canada, Cape Breton. E Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by Cape Breton fiddler Jerry Holland (1955-2008, Inverness, Cape Breton) who told Susan Songer (Portland Collection) that the inspiration for the title came from a friends tale of attending a wake with some unsavory looking people, remarking that the display of scars and tattoos there normally would not be seen outside of a biker bar.
