WEST WIND [1], THE (Ghaoth Aniar (An)). AKA and see "Gilbert Clancy's Reel," "James Ryan's Favorite," "John Reid's Favourite," "Seán Reid’s Reel." Irish, Reel. G Major/Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABC. The melody is melodically related to the hornpipe "Buachaill Dreoite (1) (An)" and the jig "Bímid ag Ól is ag Pógadh na mBan." Breathnach (1963) says the melody, or at least the first part of it, is the same as the reel “James Ryan's Favorite” in Irish Folk Dance Music (153). Compare also with an untitled reel in Feldman & O’Doherty’s Northern Fiddler (1979, p. 76).
