PETIT BÛCHEUX, LE (The Little Lumberjack). AKA - "Lep'tit bûcheux." AKA and see "Lord MacDonald (4)." French-Canadian, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA’BB’. An irregular version of the famous Scottish tune “Lord MacDonald (4),” the second strain having two beats added at the end of the 2nd turn. The tune was also recorded by La Famille Soucy on a 78 RPM, but was popularized in modern times by fiddler André Alain (1931-2000) of St-Basile-de-Portneuf, near Québec City. An earlier version of the same tune was recorded by fiddler A.J. Boulay as "Virginia Reel Part 1" in 1923. See note for "annotation:Reel McDonnell" for more. See also Jos Bouchard's "<incipit title="load:Emile" width=850 link="https://tunearch.org/wiki/Reel St-Émile">Reel St-Émile</incipit>," another derivative of "Lord MacDonald."
