SHERIFF MULDOON'S. AKA and see “Bow-Legged Tailor (The)," "Sheriff Muir (2).” American, Jig (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. One of several compositions credited to “J. Hand” in Ryan’s Mammoth Collection. New York City researcher, writer and musician Don Meade finds the tune in O’Neill as “Bow-Legged Tailor (The).” He believes there were two brothers, James and John Hand, who were fiddlers in the Boston, Massachusetts, area in the mid-19th century. It was printed as "Sherrif Muir (2)" in Boston publisher Elias Howe's 1000 Jigs and Reels (1867).
