CHERRY RIVER RAG. Old-Time, Country Rag. USA, northeastern Ky/W.Va. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. Apparently Ed Hayley was the only one to record this tune (at least prior to John Hartford), named for the Cherry River, part of the Kanawha-New River drainage basin of West Virginia. There are two forks of the Cherry, North and South, parts of which today are a prime recreation area. A shift to the second or third position on the violin will facilitate this tune.
