JOHN BYRNE'S (JIG). Irish, Jig, Ireland, County Donegal. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). A version of O'Neill's "Father Fielding's Favorite." The County Donegal version comes from James Byrne's father, John, and was popular among the old generation of Donegal fiddlers, according to Caoimhin Mac Aoidh. "They all, including James consider it an old Glencolmcille jig. Everyone here calls it Port Sheain Ui Bheirn, or John Byrne's Jig. Almost all of us playing it now got it from James."
