FYKET [1], THE. Scottish, Strathspey or Reel. A Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (Gow): AABB' (Athole, Skye). "Very Old" (Skye). John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of this 'double-tonic' melody in print in Robert Bremner's 1757 collection. 'Fyket' means 'to fidget', as in fidgeting fingers. See also the reel setting called "Fekyet (The)", also printed by the Gows.
