DUNCAN GRAY [2], THE. English, Hornpipe. England, Northumberland. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Vickers' original ms. [1] gives the first word as 'Dankin'. Apparently a composite tune, as the first strain can be construed as a derivation of that of "Duncan Gray (1)". while the second strain (as Seattle notes, particularly the last 5 bars) is similar to that of "Salt Fish and Dumplings"Shepherd's Hornpipe (The).
