"Richmond Square" was recorded in New York City in May, 1929, by Charlie Poole’s band, called both the North Carolina Ramblers and the Allegheny Highlanders, depending on the recording label and session. The group’s personnel for May, 1929, date consisted of Charlie Poole (banjo), Lonnie Austin (fiddle), Roy Harvey (guitar) and Lucy Terry (piano).
