You Bet
YOU BET. American, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The composition is credited to James (“Jimmy”) Hand in Ryan’s Mammoth Collection (1883), but clearly the ‘A’ part belongs to the “[[Off to California [1]]” family of tunes, a rather numerous and widespread strain (there are other examples contained in the same collection). There is also a Johnny Hand to whom several tunes are attributed in Ryans, and they were perhaps brothers from the Boston area, or father and son.
