YOU BET. American, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The composition is credited to James (“Jimmy”) Hand in Ryan’s Mammoth Collection (1883), but clearly the ‘A’ part belongs to the “Off to California (1)” family of tunes, a rather numerous and widespread strain (there are other examples contained in the same collection). There is also a Johnny/biography:John Hand to whom several tunes are attributed in Ryan’s, and they were perhaps brothers from the Boston area, or father and son.
