CARRON BRIDGE [1]. Canadian, Strathspey. Canada, Cape Breton. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by Cape Breton fiddler Dan R. MacDonald (1911-1976). Carron Bridge is the name of a camp near a bridge over the River Carron, in central Scotland, built on the site of an old drover's ford at the eastern end of Strathcarron Forest. It was the place where MacDonald and other Canadian Forestry Corps. members received addition training after their arrival in the country during World War II.
