NORTH END REEL. AKA and see "Betty Pringle's Pig (1)," "Day We Paid the Rent (The)." American, Reel. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The composition credited to one J. Hand in Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883), although the first strain of the tune is reminiscent of "Money Musk/Monymusk." Several tunes are credited to 'J. Hand' in the collection, although almost nothing is known about him, or them; there apparently were brothers (or father & son) by the names of Jimmy/James and Johnny Hand who were musicians in the Boston area in the mid-19th century.
