BOSTON BOYS, THE. American, Reel. C Major (Cole, Ryan): D Major (Miller). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody has some currency among Irish fiddlers, perhaps through Paddy Cronin, who lived in Boston for many years before returning to his native Co. Kerry. Ryan's Mammoth was printed by Elias Howe & Co., one of Boston's leading music publishers.

Source for notated version: Kerry fiddler Paddy Cronin [Bulmer & Sharpley, Miller].

Printed sources: Cole (1000 Fiddle Tunes), 1940; p. 28. Bulmer & Sharpley (Music from Ireland), vol. 4, No. 35. Miller (Fiddler's Throne), 2004; No. 128, p. 85. Ryan's Mammoth Collection, 1883; p. 53.

Recorded sources: Green Linnet SIF 1010, "Mick Moloney with Eugene O'Donnell" (1978).
