RAKES OF DRUMLISH [1], THE (Réiceanna Dhroim Lis). Irish, Slip Jig. E Minor (‘A’ part) & G Major (‘B’ part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Drumlish is in County Longford. The word ‘Rakes’ is short for 'rakehell', which itself stems from the Old Icelandic word reikall, meaning "wandering” or “unsettled." See also the related first part of “Swaggering Jig (2) (The).”

Source for notated version: fiddler and uilleann piper Stephen Grier (Farnaght, Co. Leitrim), who wrote his manuscripts in the 1880's [Breathnach].
