PETIT BÛCHEUX, LE (The Little Lumberjack). AKA - "Lep'tit bûcheux." AKA and see "Lord MacDonald (4)." French-Canadian, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA’BB’. An irregular version of the famous Scottish tune “<incipit title="load:MacDonald" width=850 link="https://tunearch.org/wiki/Lord MacDonald (4)">Lord MacDonald (4)</incipit>,” the second strain having two beats added at the end of the 2nd turn. The tune was also recorded by La Famille Soucy on a 78 RPM, but was popularized in modern times by fiddler André Alain (1931-2000) of St-Basile-de-Portneuf, near Québec City. An earlier version of the same tune was recorded by fiddler A.J. Boulay as "<incipit title="load:Virginia" width=850 link="https://tunearch.org/wiki/Virginia Reel Part 1">Virginia Reel Part 1</incipit>" in 1923.
