Irish, Double Jig. D Major (Cole, Howe): D Major/Mixolydian (Joyce): D Mixolydian (Breathnach). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Cole, Howe, Joyce): AABBCC (Breathnach). In modern times the tune is usually known as "Banish Misfortune (1)."

Source for notated version: piper Sean Potts (Ireland) [Breathnach]; learned by Joyce from his father, presumably in his childhood in Limerick in the 1840's [Joyce].
