COEN'S MEMORIES. AKA - "Tommy Coen's." AKA and see "Tommy Coen's Reel (2)," "Paddy Canny's (1)." Irish Reel. E Minor (Dorian). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by Urrachree, Aughrim, East Galway, fiddler and accordion player Tommy Coen (1910-1974), most famous for his composition "Christmas Eve." Coen's day job was a conductor on Connemara busses, and in later life he lived in Salthill. "Coen's Memories" is similar to Roche's "Cottage in the Grove (1) (The)," also known as "McGovern's Favourite" (as recorded by Paddy Killoran) and "Maurice Casey's Fancy."
