ARDKINGLAS'S REEL. AKA and see "Caora Cròm (An)." Scottish, Reel (cut time). G Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Arkinglas's Reel" is contained in amateur fiddler and writing master biography:David Young's Drummond Castle Manuscript, Part 2 (1734, No. 29), inscribed "A Collection of the best Highland Reels written by David Young, W.M. & Accomptant." The MS. is sometimes called the Duke of Perth MS for its dedicatee. Young also entered the tune into one of his later compilations, the MacFarlane Manuscript, Part 2 (c. 1740, No. 199, p. 239), albeit entitling it "Caora Cròm (An)."
