ACROSS THE SEA. AKA ‑ "Going Across the Sea." American, Reel. USA; Oklahoma, Cumberland Plateau (Ky./Tenn border region). D Major. ADae tuning (fiddle). One part. Marion Thede transcribed the tune from the playing of Billy Evans (Kiowa County, Oklahoma), who played it in scodatura tuning (ADae). "Across the Sea" was also recorded in 1946 from the playing of John Lusk (fid.), Murph Gribble (ban.) and Alvin York (gtr.) by Library of Congress collector Margaret Mayo, in Campaign, Tennessee.

Compare the Lusk String Band's version with Kentucky fiddler Isham Monday and Henry L. Bandy's "Going Across the Sea."
