INDIAN MELODY (THE). Irish, Reel. The melody appears in the mid-19th century music manuscripts of Church of Ireland cleric and uilleann piper biography:James Goodman as "The Indian Melody." County Leitrim piper and fiddler biography:Stephen Grier (c. 1824-1894) entered it into Book 3 of his c. 1883 music manuscript collection under the title "Dashing White Sergeant (2) (The)."
