CUCKOW MINUET [2]. English, Minuet (3/4 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The "Cuckow Hornpipe" appears in the music copybook of violinist George Malecot, of Whitehaven, England, dated 1776-1779. The melody also appears in the music manuscript copybook of John Burks, dated 1821, ascribed to "by M.A." (a photocopy is in the possession of the ed.). Unfortunately, nothing is known of Burks, although he may have been from the north of England. No relation to "Cuckoo Minuet [1]."
