FIREFLY HORNPIPE, THE. Scottish, Hornpipe. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune may perhaps have an American provenance, picked up by James Kerr from one of the Elias Howe publications, and from Kerr to other Scottish publications. Cape Breton fiddler Scotty Fitzgerald may have learned the tune from either Scottish sources or from a Howe publication, but he popularized it among Cape Breton fiddlers.

Source for notated version: Winston Fitzgerald (Cape Breton) [Cranford].
