"Edinburgh Volunteers Quickstep" was entered into the mid-19th century music manuscript copybook of flute player William Killey of Jurby, Isle of Man. Killey researcher Ian Radcliffe identifies the tune as "Edinburgh Royal Highland Volunteers Quick Step," composed along with a companion march by John MacGlashan and printed in Edinburgh. It can also be found as "Essex Band (The)" in Thomas Calvert's 1799 publication.
