SPRIG OF SHILLELAGH [3], THE. Irish, Polka (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB’. The Flanagan brothers played the tune with a ‘B’ part of only fourteen bars rather than the usual sixteen (Dave Mallinson added the extra bars in the setting he prints). The first strain is a duple time setting of the first strain of the German folk song "Ach du lieber Augustine" (AKA and see "Buy a Broom Waltz").
