BUZZARD IN A PEA PATCH. AKA and see "Turkey in a Pea Patch." Old-Time, Breakdown. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The tune is traced to Kentucky fiddler Buddy Thomas, who recorded it as "Turkey in a Pea Patch" on his influential "Kitty Puss" album. The use of "Buzzard" in the title is apparently from the Stonekings.

Source for notated version: Glenn Berry [Silberberg]; Fred Stoneking (b. 1933, Missouri), learned from Buddy Thomas (Kentucky) [Beisswenger & McCann].

Printed source: Beisswenger & McCann (Ozarks Fiddle Tunes), 2008; p. 136. Silberberg (Tunes I Learned at Tractor Tavern), 2002; p. 19.

Recorded source: Rounder CD 0381, Fred Stoneking - "Saddle Old Spike" (1996).
