QUICK STEP [5]. AKA - "The Quickstep." Scottish, March (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The tune was published in 1799 by Thomas Calvert, a musician from Kelso, Scotland. A note with his collection states that Calvert supplied “a variety of music and instruments, instruments lent out, tun’d and repaired.” Since Calvert also included pieces for Volunteer units (raised to guard against Napoleon) in his collection, it may be surmised this was a march used at the time.
