Sheet Music for "The Quickstep"The QuickstepQuick Step [5]Book: The Calvert Collection - Page 4Notes: The tune follows "Roxburghshire Cavalry Yeomanry's March" and seemslikely to have been composed as the march's quick step element. [AK]Transcription: Nigel Gatherer

QUICK STEP [5]. AKA - "The Quickstep." AKA and see "Dálaigh's Slide," "Roxburghshire Cavalry Yeomanry's March Quick Step." Scottish, March (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The tune was published in 1799 by Thomas Calvert, a musician from Kelso, Scotland in his Collection of Marches, Quicksteps, Strathspeys and Reels. A note with his collection states that Calvert supplied “a variety of music and instruments, instruments lent out, tun’d and repaired.” Since Calvert also included pieces for Volunteer units (raised to guard against Napoleon) in his collection, it may be surmised this was a march in present use at the time. The quick step follows directly below the "Roxburghshire Cavalry Yeomanry's March (The)" on the page of Calvert's collection, and is presumed to be the quick step element attached to the march.
