MATT MOLLOY'S (JIG). AKA and see "Baby Gavin," "Burke's (1)," "Charlie Mulvihill's Jig (1)," "Connie O'Connell's Jig (2)," "Coughlan's," "Gallagher's (2)," "Lad O'Beirne's Jig," "Short Road (The)," "Silver Vale (The)." Irish, Jig. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody has been attributed to Pete Kelly, who originally called it "Shannonaires' Jig (The)" after a showband or ceili band he was a member of in New York in the 1960's. Many of the alternate titles seem to have New York connections (e.g. Lad O'Beirne, Charlie Mulvihill, 'Baby Gavin', and Joe Burke {from his time in New York}).
