MUSKRAT RAG. American, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A member of the "Uncle Joe"/"Mrs. MacLeod of Raasay"/"Miss McLeod's Reel (1)" family of tunes. It was recorded under this title by fiddler Reese Jarvis (1900-1967, Clendenin, West Virginia) and guitarist Dick Justice [1] (1906-1962) for Brunswick Records in Chicago, 1929. The only other recording from the duo is "Poca River Blues" (AKA "East Tennessee Blues"), although each was involved in recording ventures with others. Justice said later it was the day of the recording was the first day they had played together.
