OKLAHOMA RUN. AKA- "Old Purcell". Old-Time, Breakdown. USA; Ozarks, Oklahoma. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The first part of the tune is that more familiarly known as "Green Willis (1)," which is itself a version of the "New Rigged Ship (1)." The title commemorates the famous public land offering of 1899 [1], while the alternate title refers to the town of Purcell, Oklahoma. The tune was collected and transcribed by the folk music division of the Oklahoma Music Program in the 1930's.
