OKLAHOMA RUN [1]. AKA- "Old Purcell". Old-Time, Breakdown. USA; Ozarks, Oklahoma. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The first part of the tune is that more familiarly known as "Green Willis (1)," which is itself a version of the "New Rigged Ship (1) (The)." The title commemorates the famous public land offering of 1899 [1], while the alternate title refers to the town of Purcell, Oklahoma. The tune was collected and transcribed by the folk music division of the Oklahoma Music Program in the 1930's. Stan Jackson's "Oklahoma Run (2)" is a distanced version of Thede's tune.
