LINEN CAP, THE (An Caipin Anairt). AKA and see "Honorable Mrs. Maule," "Miss Maule's Reel," "Sheep Shanks," "Struy Lodge." Irish, Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The reel is almost identical to Scottish fiddler-composer Robert Macintosh's "Honorable Mrs. Maule."
Source for notated version: "Cronin" [O'Neill]. Chicago fiddler Edward Cronin was originally from Limerick Junction, County Tipperary, born c. 1843. He was one of the best fiddlers in Chicago at the time O'Neill was collecting, and O'Neill transcribed many tunes from his playing. He also could be difficult to get along with, especially in the longer term.
