CONNAUGHTMAN [1], THE (Fear Conactac). AKA and see "Boring the Leather (2)," "Come with Me Now," "Down the Back Lane," "Hills of Larraga (The)," "Humors of Ayle House (The)," "Jimmy Doyle's Favourite Jig," "Kilfinane Jig (The)," "Shoemaker's Fancy (The)," "When You Go Home." Irish, Jig. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Connaught was one of the five old provinces of Ireland (along with Ulster, Leinster, Meath, and Munster), named for the ancient tribe who lived there, the Connachta. Despite the attribution to James O'Neill in Music of Ireland, the tune appears to have been copied from Levey's 1858 collection.
