WHITE POST, THE (Le Poteau Blanc). French Canadian, Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB’. The last measure in the second strain has an extra beat in the first turn. The tune comes from the repertoire of Joseph Allard [1] (1873-1947), mentor of Montreal fiddle great Jean Carignan. It was listed as a 'Gigue' on Allard's 1928 recording.
