DOWN THE BURN, DAVIE LAD [1]. AKA and see "By the Brookside". Scottish, Slow Air (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. Mulhollan (Edinburgh, 1804) notes that the version he prints is a 'New Sett'. MacDonald's setting is a reprint of Gow, who remarks that his is a "Modern set by particular desire." See also O'Neill's Irish version as "By the Brookside."
