WILD MORRIS, THE. AKA – “Ye Wild Morris.” English, Country Dance Tune (2/2 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. "Ye Wild Morris" was first printed in dancing master Daniel Wright's An Extraordinary Collection of Pleasant and Merry Humours printed around the year 1715 (dates vary from 1713 to 1720). The tune was played as a "Morris Off" (i.e. the ending tune where the dancers leave the field) by Charles Baldwin, formerly musician for the side at Cliffords Mense, Gloucestershire.
