"Ye Wild Morris" was first printed in biography:Daniel Wright's An Extraordinary Collection of Pleasant and Merry Humours printed around the year 1715 (dates vary from 1713 to 1720). The tune was played as a "Morris Off" (i.e. the ending tune where the dancers leave the field) by Charles Baldwin, formerly musician for the side at Cliffords Mense, Gloucestershire.
