KINCALDRUM('S). AKA and see "Devil in a Bush (The)," "Parson in the Suds (2)." Scottish; Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Surenne): AAB (Athole, Gow): AABB' (Skye). The alternate title, "Devil in a Bush (The)," seems idiosyncratic to Northumbrian musician William Vickers, who included it in his 1770-1772 music manuscript. It was also included by Waverton, Wigton, Cumbria, multi-instrumentalist John Rook (as "Kincaldrum's Reel") in his large 1840 music manuscript (p. 189). See also the related "England's Glory."

Kincaldrum is a place-name in central Angus, not far from Glamis. There is Kincaldrum Hill (912 ft.) near Kincaldrum House, once the seat of the Baxter family. The manor has since become a ruin.
