The title refers to Arbeadie village, in the parish of Banchory-Ternan, Aberdeenshire, where J. Scott Skinner (1843-1927) was born on the 5th of August, 1843. Arbeadie lies about 20 miles west of Aberdeen, near the River Dee. Although the region has long been in the historical record, the village itself was only established in 1805, and has since been absorbed with several other small villages to form Banchory.
