BELLE OF BOSTON. American, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by E. Christie, who was not the Edwin P. Christy of black-face minstrel fame. Rather, E. (also Edwin?, but note the difference in spelling of the last name) was apparently a minor composer of light music from the Boston, Massachusetts, area in the mid-to-latter 19th century, although very little is known about him. Several of his compositions appear in Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883), printed in Boston by Elias Howe's company.

Printed sources: Cole (1000 Fiddle Tunes), 1940; pg. 42. Ryan's Mammoth Collection, 1883; pg. 69.
