BRAES OF CASTLE GRANT, THE. Scottish, Pipe March (2/4 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'CCDD'. The first two parts were composed by Duncan MacDonald of Castle Grant in 1863, and the last two by Pipe Major G.S. MacLennan, appearing in his Highland Bagpipe Music book 1 (1929). Christine Martin (2002) says the tune is often played as a stately pipe march in competitions, and warns it should not be speeded up.

Source for notated version: fiddler Jean-Ann Callender (Aberdeen) [Martin].

Printed sources: Martin (Ceol na Fidhle), vol. 4, 1991; p. 32. Martin (Traditional Scottish Fiddling), 2002; p. 66.
