BROWN JOAK, THE. English, Jig (6/4 time). G Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody appears in Walsh's Third Collection of Lancashire Jigs, Hornpipes, Joaks etc. (c. 1730). A number of different colored 'Joaks' followed on the success of "The Black Joak/Joke", in imitation.
