Burying Poteen (The)
BURYING POTEEN, THE. AKA and see "Martin Wynne's No. 2." Irish, Reel. B Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by County Sligo fiddler Martin Wynne (1913-1998) who emigrated to the Bronx, New York in 1948. "Burying Poteen" seems to be the title employed by Sean McGuire, although it is usually known as "Martin Wynne's No. 2." Randy Miller notes Wynne penned the tune sometime before that year. Poteen is a potent alcoholic beverage distilled from potatoes, usually homemade and sometimes impure.
