CORNWALLIS'S SURRENDER. Old-Time Breakdown. USA, Arkansas. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Irregular in the two-measure 2nd strain. Drew Beisswenger (2008) points out similarties to "Dance All Night/Give the Fiddler a Dram (1)." Source Morrison liked tunes with historical connotations (see his "British March" which he also associated with the surrender at Yorktown), although the origins of this tune are obscure.

Source for notated version: Absie Morrison (1876-1964, Searcy County, Arkansas) [Beisswenger & McCann].

Printed source: Beisswenger & McCann (Ozarks Fiddle Music), 2008; p. 102.
