COTTON PICKER'S RAG. Old-Time, Country Rag. USA, Missouri. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. Possibly composed by Missouri fiddler Ben Tinnon (1891-1975), leader of the band Grinnell Giggers. Charles Wolfe explains that the name of the band was taken from the practice of fishing (with 'gigs', or three-pronged forks) for a 'trash-fish' called grinnell. These fish could be found in the backwater pools left from the annual flooding of the Mississippi in the Missouri/Arkansas border region.

Source for notated version: Ben Tinnon with the Grinnell Giggers (Mo.) [Phillips].

Printed source: Phillips (Traditional American Fiddle Tunes), vol. 2, 1995; p. 33.
