BALANCE THE STRAW [2]. English, Morris Dance Tune (6/8 time). D Major (Bacon): G Major (Mallinson). Standard tuning. AABA (Bacon): AABB (Mallinson). From the Field Town (Leafield) area of England's Cotswolds. Bacon (1974) says this tune is a "new version of 'Balance the Straw' (which) has appeared in post-war years, and has become (an) accepted and effective part of the morris man's repertoire. The tune is a composed, or at least a modified one."
