BARBARA ALLAN [1]. AKA and see "Old Woman in the Glen (1) (The)." Scottish, Air (4/4 time). "Barbara Allan (1)" appears in the McFarlane MS., 1740, in drawing room style. See Charles Seegar's "Versions and Variants of Barbara Allen" (1966) for a thorough ethnomusicological treatise on this tune family.
